An Improper Post

This will actually not be a proper blog post at all, good only for fulfilling my self-imposed requirement that I post something every day during Lent.  Earlier, I jotted down some random words that came to me as I was engaged in a private exchange of messages while going about the usual morning routines of getting dressed and preparing and eating breakfast.  Today I was also preparing to see my chiropractor before lunch.  I never did get back to writing the blog post that had begun to form in my mind.

The main idea that energized my thinking was that cynicism is a terrible modus operandi.  I got as far as looking up the definition of cynicism.  I found the most complete definition at Dictionary.com, although it was actually for the adjective form: cynical.

distrusting or disparaging the motives of others; like or characteristic of a cynic.
showing contempt for accepted standards of honesty or morality by one's actions, especially by actions that exploit the scruples of others.
bitterly or sneeringly distrustful, contemptuous, or pessimistic.

I'm going to leave this post dangling right here.  I'll leave in place though the scattered and obscure notes that I jotted down this morning as ideas came to me.  Maybe I'll find words to make something comprehensible of them at another time.  In the meantime, maybe some of my readers can entertain themselves by using these words as a writing prompt for your own thoughts.  I'd love to see what you come up with.

what it means to be heard

arrogance

cynicism

lack of nuance

respect--not relationship

"poor me"

both Creator and Healer

negative lens

prophesy according to faith

FB group memes

no one gets a pass on rudeness or arrogance or close-mindedness or prickliness--at least in the sense that these things should never be defended, and the effort to overcome them should never be abandoned

handicaps

justice or mercy, God or man?
