An Unremarkable Thursday
I really need to switch my writing time to early morning. Doing this daily writing task late in the day guarantees that those good thoughts that came to me earlier are inaccessible--hidden behind a fog of cooking, baking, laundry, seedstarting and seeing to communication tasks. I find myself wondering repeatedly if I already wrote something that occurs to me to write.

Today Shane guessed the Wordle mystery word on the very first guess. I have never heard of this happening before. It's really as random as it sounds. It could have been any of the five-letter words in the English language, and he happened to land on the exact guess that was also the mystery word. Guessing correctly on the second guess happens occasionally, but the first guess? Well, I thought that wasn't possible.

Russia is reportedly shelling a nuclear power plant in Ukraine. The plant is on fire, but at last report had not exploded, spewing radiation everywhere. This plant is ten times the size of Chernobyl, the infamous site of a previous nuclear accident that up until then was the worst such event in history.

My first cousin, Shirley Ropp, spent 12 weeks in the hospital after she contracted Covid. She's been at home now for several weeks, and is making progress toward health again. She had no known pre-existing conditions. Tomorrow evening I hope to attend a fundraising event to help defray her medical expenses. Shirley is in her lower to mid sixties.

The pullets that we bought from Ann Schrag are happily foraging far from their chicken tractor during the day when we let them roam. It's a good thing that they put themselves to bed--or mount the perch voluntarily--inside their shelter. Hiromi sometimes strokes them when he goes out to close their door. Recently one of them pecked him when he did this. I thought it probably served him right for invading their personal space when it was too dark for them to see him and escape.

Uncle Paul has macular degeneration. He says that eating blueberries is making a difference in improving his vision. What I remembered as being good for the eyes is bilberry, but I don't know anything else about that fruit. I have a bottle of "Eye Support" pills that I've been taking now for several days. I noticed that among the ingredients were both blueberry extract and bilberry extract.
